After The Lipstick Killer died, I did some research, found out The Bloody Spur by reporter Charles Einstein hadn’t been renewed. Off it went to the scanning service, and now it’s yours.
Book, which sets the matter in NYC, not Chicagoland, gives a good account of the hunt for our murderer, and in particular the false leads, but was far too convinced of the subject’s guilt… and spends quite a bit of time discussing succession issues within a large newspaper firm.
Einstein wrote a couple more books, but those were renewed or post-’63. Have never seen While The City Sleeps, movie that was based on the book, may look for it one of these days.

HELP ME FOR GODS SAKE Later the doctors would use these words to decipher the riddle of a perverted killer. Right now, the lipstick scrawl signaled the start of New York’s greatest manhunt.
